Join Green Mountain Conservation Group (GMCG) for a second season as they learn about the wintering birds of the Ossipee Watershed. GMCG’s Blue Heron Bird Club is excited to continue participating in the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Project FeederWatch.
Project FeederWatch is a citizen science initiative that challenges people of all ages to observe and record the wintering birds at backyard bird feeders. Cornell uses this data to monitor trends in bird populations and inform policy to protect birds around the U.S. and Canada. Last year at GMCG’s FeederWatches, they observed cardinals, downy woodpeckers, chickadees, and goldfinches!
Blue Heron Bird Club is hosted by GMCG’s AmeriCorps volunteers on specific Tuesdays and Wednesdays this winter, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Join them as they observe the birds at their newly installed bird feeders – donated by Skehan Home Center and other supplies provided by Tractor Supply.
No birding experience is necessary! For novice birders, GCMG offers an opportunity to gain familiarity with some of the most common backyard birds and to practice birding skills with provided identification cards and guide books. Experienced birders are invited to share their knowledge with others. All bird watching will be conducted from GMCG’s comfortable rocking chairs in their Community Room looking out to riparian habitat and a vernal pool. 236 Huntress Bridge Road, Effingham, NH 03882.
The sessions run from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on the following dates:
December 3-4, 2019
December 17-18, 2019
January 7-8, 2020
