The 2019 Cornish Apple Festival was lucky to have beautiful weather and visiting royalty at the Apple Pie Contest.
Miss Maine 2019, Carolyn Brady, was a fourth to three judges: Sylvia Pease of Hiram, and Melissa Gillette and John Lyle, both of Cornish. It is fair to say that she was a natural, as her evaluation of crust, flavor, and overall appearance were very similar to the more seasoned judges.
According to the judges, the winning pie was the clear winner. Twelve pies were submitted and here are the winners of the five prizes:
1 st Place – Marjorie Athanosios - Sebago
2nd Place- Karen James - Hiram
3rd Place - Mary Langlois - Limerick
4th Place - Robert Lister - Limington
5th Place - Beverly Perkins - Limington
Prizes were provided by the following businesses:
1 st prize - Basket of assorted items provided by Apple Acres in Hiram worth more than $50.
2 nd prize – Gift certificate valued at $40 provided by Krista’s restaurant in Cornish

Many thanks to the Inn at Cornish, our judges, Rich Ruhlin, and the contestants and those who participated in the auction.
