UNH Cooperative Extension will offer a free Natural Resources Program on Map and Compass Basics with co-sponsor Green Mountain Conservation Group (GMCG) on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The program will take place at GMCG’s conservation center, Blue Heron House, located at 236 Huntress Bridge Road in Effingham, NH. The course is designed for anyone looking to improve map and compass skills or wants to feel more comfortable walking off-trail in the woods.
The course is also geared towards conservation commissioners, land trust volunteers, private landowners, or others interested in navigating off-trail, or monitoring conservation easements or boundary lines. This FREE training will introduce you to basic map and compass skills.
Participants will spend two hours indoors learning the basics before heading outside to put our new skills to the test. If you have a compass of your own, please bring it, but we will have compasses available for those who need one. Please come prepared to spend a couple of hours outdoors walking off-trail through variable terrain.
